Including diverse voices from the field is an important part of Voices to Action. A series of humanitarian hub events will take place live in local communities – in countries such as Bangladesh, Honduras, Lebanon and Liberia – to enable deeper dialogue on key issues such as ensuring safe access for vulnerable communities to life-saving services, and preventing and responding to violence.
These multi-stakeholder dialogues will include voices across the societal spectrum: individuals who have been affected by crises, volunteers, government representatives, non-governmental organizations, academics, and more. The hub events will be safe spaces within which to speak freely and collaborate creatively.
Participants will be guided through a series of small group discussions, individual and group reflections, and large group plenaries. Together, they will identify local humanitarian challenges, envision a future without these challenges, and develop ideas and potentially sustainable solutions – be it individual action or community partnerships – to tackle local issues and drive positive change. Voices from the hub events and the Voices to Action portal will be shared in the Red Cross and Red Crescent’s dialogue with world leaders at an international conference in December 2015.
A humanitarian hub event will also take place in Austria at a special event recognizing the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement for humanitarian action.
